The first two weeks or so were rough going when we dropped her off; Zoe would pull at our coats to stay, or try and sit in our laps to keep us sitting with her. Then she would cry as we left and say, 'No byebye.' It was always heartbreaking in the moment, but Miss Melanie tells us that Zoe would quickly look around and realize, 'hey, i'm surrounded by toys, friends and open space. not bad.'
Last Tuesday (2/26) I dropped off Zoe without Mom, and it couldn't have been easier. I assembled her breakfast bag while she slept (applesauce, banana, blueberries, cereal bar, sippy cup), we sang songs while we changed our clothes, and when I dropped her off she simply stared at me as I walked away. This was the first time she made no attempt to keep me in the room. My baby is growing up!
By Thursday 2/28 she was obediently finishing her lunch when Situ arrived, and told Situ 'I like school' on their way out. Fun stuff! Today (Tue 3/4) we dropped her off with Miss Melanie and her friends, she asked for her cereal bar, I blew her a kiss, she gave me a smile and we were off to the train. She's definitely enjoying her new routine of going to school!
