It's been a long time since a good update. Dad's been slacking on the photos, and I've had some ups and downs in the last month, but mostly ups because Dad keeps tossing me high in the sky. (I'll have the last laugh when I vomit my blueberries on him someday.) Here's the latest on me, in a nutshell:
May 11th was Yiayia's Birthday, and I spent it all day with her. In the evening Dad came from work to have dinner with us, and I helped Yiayia with her cake. Mmmmmmm, frosting. May 13th was Mommies' Day. This year it was also Amu James' graduation. It was a scorcher outside, and especially hot for Amu James who had to wear a cap and gown and suit in the heat on the Rutgers football field for hours. I hung back with Mommy and enjoyed leftovers of Daddy's Blueberry Almond French Toast Bake. Did I mention I love blueberries? I also got Mom a card and a 12-month calendar full of pictures of and holidays of family and friends. March and July are busy months for our family! In the afternoon we all met up at the Frog and the Peach for lunch in honor of Amu James and Situ. Yiayia joined us on the phone for fun, too.
May 27th was Memorial Day weekend. Mom and Dad got a house in Point Pleasant Beach, and it was my first time back to the ocean since visiting the Mig-Mallows in Ocean City when I was 5 months old. There are lots of children on our block, and the sand is delicious. The ocean is cold but I love the waves! The strawberry ice cream is pretty good, too. Monday I got to hang out with my God-family and ride choo-choo train ride. Whheeeeeee!
June 3rd was not a good day. Little did I know, a viral storm was brewing around my inside. I somehow contracted a virus called cocksackie, commonly known as hand, foot and mouth disease. No, this has nothing to do with the hoof and mouth disease my toy horse got last month (he's better now). I hear it's a lot like the chicken pox, but the red bumps were mostly on my feet, hands and in/on my mouth. On Sunday June 3rd I hung out with my cousin Ryan and unwittingly passed it on. By Monday June 4th I was not a happy camper. There isn't anything you can do to help yourself, so mostly I was just sad for a few days. Mommy and Situ did a good job making me happy, and after three days it was easy to eat again. Unfortunately Ryan started showing signs as I began to heal. I'm sorry cuz, I didn't know! I'm sure you'll get me back somehow when we get older. Dad kept saying that it was weird that I was covered in red spots but smiling. What can I say? Sometimes it's fun to be sick -- I had blueberries (and watermelon) for breakfast, lunch and dinner! The week of the 11th has been spent mostly at Situ's house with Amu James, Auntie Alia, Jidu, Situ, and cousins Farah and Faisal. Dad's been sleeping at Situ's house too. Her house is really big -- I love running back and forth, inside and out, while Situ chases behind me with, you guessed it, a bowl of blueberries.
Today is Friday, June 15th, and I can't wait for Mommy to return home from Poland (one of the few countries I have yet to visit myself).
This Sunday is Daddies' Day (at the beach) -- I can't wait to give him my present (hint: it's a lot like what's already in my diaper!)
With Love,
Zoe.
